Herefordshire South

This group of around 70 members meets monthly at 2pm on Saturday afternoon (unless otherwise stated) at Walford Village Hall near Ross on Wye for talks.  They have garden visits, a plant sale in summer and an annual holiday.  Please ring Christine if you need further information.

1st April 2017:  Climbers and Wall Shrubs

Presenter: Duncan Coombes
Duncan is a semi-retired lecturer at Pershore College and has travelled extensively in both China and Japan. He will be making a very welcome return to give practical advice on 'covering' our walls and fences.

6th May 2017:  Plant Sale with Cakes

Venue: Walford Village Hall
Our annual fundraiser with plant sales and afternoon tea with homemade cakes.

7th October 2017:  AGM Followed by Colour Magic

AGM followed by Bob Brown of Cotswold Garden Flowers talking on how to inject some 'magic' into our gardens

4th November 2017:  Autumn Fare

Presenter: Rob Cole
Rob and Diane Cole moved from Birmingham to Meadow Farm in September 1998. To enable them to continue running their plant growing business from this new location they set about building a nursery, before turning their attention on to creating a garden. The nursery specialises in herbaceous perennials which are propagated and grown on site. In this talk Rob takes a look at what to grow for autumn interest

Presenter: Jonathan Brigs
Jonathan Briggs is a mistletoe expert who runs a small consultancy called Mistletoe Matters. He gives guidance and help on mistletoe planting, growing, harvest or control. He is available for talks and organises workshops on many aspects of mistletoe. He also produces information on mistletoe survey projects, publishes books and supplies information sheets and information for print and broadcast media. This will be the first talk on Mistletoe to our society so we will all be learning something new about this interesting plant.
