Rutland

This group was launched in April 2009 at Barnsdale Gardens. It provides a network in and around Rutland for both amateur and professional gardeners.  The group’s yearly programme includes garden and nursery visits, an annual garden lunch, plant sales and at least one workshop.  The atmosphere is informal and informative.  The branch is open to anyone belonging to the main Society.  Anyone interested is invited to come along to an event.  You can decide after two events if you wish to join the Society with its modest subscription of £12 single membership and £15 joint membership (at the same address).  Membership provides a 50 page quarterly magazine, annual seed list, plant sales, stands at national shows, gardens to visit, correspondence groups and 35 regional groups organising visits, talks, plant swops and sales.  ALL regional groups are open to CGS members.  Some branches have their own yearly subscription.  The Rutland group has no additional subscription.  To be included on the mailing list a current membership number, plus full details: name, address, phone number and (if available an email address) must be sent to Jill Lessey, Co-ordinator, The Old School, Stretton, Oakham LE15 7QZ these details are not used for any outside organisation.

A monthly newsletter, compiled by Jill Lessey with full details, is sent by email or post to all paid up members of the branch – this is NOT available on the CGS website.  ALL events are pre-booked.  The branch is organised by a working group with an annual Planning Meeting for hosts and helpers. Each event has an organiser.
